Mom’s Whole Wheat Bread

What you will need:

2 cups warm water (or milk)
2 T fast acting yeast
1/4 sugar (or honey)
1/4 oil (or melted butter)

Let set and sponge until bubbly. Then add:
5 cups whole wheat flour (I use hard white wheat flour)
1 1/2 t salt

Add the flour a cup at a time, up to four cups. Then add as much of the remaining cup of flour as needed to make a soft, slightly sticky dough.

Cover and let rise until doubled. Shape into loaves and let rise until doubled once more.
Bake at 375F for 20-25 minutes. Let cool in pans, slice, and store in ziploc bags.

Enjoy!
